History

Codex Early Music Ensemble

The Codex Early Music Ensemble was founded in 1996 by music teachers and students of the Faculty of Music, Transilvania University of Brașov. Their main goal is to give an authentic and living performance of the Hungarian (especially Transylvanian) and European music from the 17 th -19 th c., using copies of period instruments.

Repertoire

Their repertoire includes the works of Castello, Cima, Frescobaldi, Salaverde, Hotteterre, Marais, Bach, Händel, Telemann, Corelli, Sartorius, pieces from the Codex Caioni, the Apponyi manuscript, Codex Vietoris, the manuscript from Sfântu Gheorghe as well as from adaptations of the Ádám Pálóczi Horváth and the István Mártonffy manuscripts.

Concerts

The ensemble has performed at prestigious festivals in Romania (George Enescu Festival, Early Music Festival from Miercurea Ciuc), Hungary, Spain and Italy.
